Community education is not teaching facts — it is designing an experience that helps people understand or do something they could not before. Before running a full session, design a 30–60 minute workshop with a clear learning objective, a concrete activity, and a plan for checking whether the objective was met. Run it with a small test group of 3–5 people who give honest feedback. The goal of M1 is to discover what does not work so you can fix it before running larger sessions.
Proof required
Share: (1) your written workshop plan (learning objective, activity description, timing, and check-for-understanding method), (2) brief notes from the test session including what worked, what did not, and at least two specific pieces of feedback from participants, and (3) one change you will make to the session based on what you learned.
What gets checked
- Learning objective is specific and measurable — 'participants will understand budgeting' is not measurable; 'participants will be able to build a one-month budget using the template provided' is
- At least two pieces of participant feedback are documented and specific — 'they liked it' is not feedback; 'two people found the activity instructions confusing before the example was shown' is
- One concrete change to the session is named and justified — what will change, why, and what you expect it to improve
