Digital Art Portfolio (10 Pieces, Published)

Proof required

Submit a portfolio document containing: four line quality studies showing confident varied-weight linework; two perspective studies (one-point and two-point); four value studies showing a clear light source, shadow, and reflected light in greyscale; and two colour theory studies demonstrating hue, saturation, and value relationships. Each study must be labelled with the concept it demonstrates.

What gets checked

• Each study is labelled with the concept being practised — not a gallery of undifferentiated work
• Value studies show at least four distinct tonal values from white to dark — not a flat greyscale wash
• Perspective studies follow the rules correctly — lines converge to the vanishing point accurately

Common mistakes

• Skipping fundamentals to jump into character or scene illustration — without value understanding, all digital art looks flat
• Drawing only from imagination without reference — fundamental skills require study from observation

What a verifier looks for

• Check that all twelve studies are labelled — unlabelled work cannot be evaluated for the concept it targets
• Count distinct tonal values in the value studies — are there at least four tones from light to dark?
• Check perspective studies: do the lines actually converge to the correct vanishing points?

Proof required

Submit five finished digital illustrations as separate high-resolution files. For each, include a 50-word note covering: the concept or subject, the deliberate colour palette choice, and the light source position. At least two illustrations must include a character or figure, and at least one must include a background environment.

What gets checked

• All five illustrations are finished — no sketch lines where finished linework or rendering is expected
• Each illustration has a clear deliberate light source consistent across all elements
• At least two illustrations include a character or figure and at least one includes a background environment

Common mistakes

• Submitting polished sketches as finished illustrations — a finished piece requires linework completion or full rendering
• Finishing five illustrations at the same subject and difficulty level — the set should show growing ambition

• Are all five illustrations finished — no visible sketch lines in areas that should be clean?
• Is there a clear consistent light source in each illustration?
• Check subject diversity: do the five illustrations demonstrate growing ambition or are they all the same type?

Proof required

Submit: a link to your published portfolio with at least ten finished works; screenshots showing you shared the portfolio in at least two communities; at least three written feedback comments from other artists (links or screenshots); and a 200-word reflection on what the feedback taught you about your current strengths and the areas to develop next.

What gets checked

• Ten or more finished works are published — not sketches or studies
• Feedback is from at least three different artists with specific comments — not generic 'great work' responses
• Reflection identifies specific strengths and specific areas to develop based on the feedback — not a summary of what people said

Common mistakes

• Publishing the portfolio without actively seeking feedback — passive portfolio hosting is not community engagement
• Reflection that summarises feedback without synthesising it into a development plan
