Robotics & Embedded AI

Build a robot that senses, thinks on-device and acts on its own.

Wire sensors, drive motors, train a small model on data you collect yourself, run it on a microcontroller, and finish with a robot that does a task on its own under a condition your verifiers choose. Simulators (Wokwi, Webots) count if you have no hardware yet. Every proof is a working build on video plus a live review with the people you invite to verify you.

Path outcomes

SkillsOptional

Master Python for Real Projects

Elective warm-up. Useful for training models and MicroPython.

Take this Challenge →

5 milestones

  1. 1Write Pythonic code, not just Python
  2. 2Work with APIs and external libraries
  3. 3Write tests for your own code
  4. 4Build a data pipeline from files
  5. 5Publish a Python package on PyPI
Skills

Build a Robot That Senses and Reacts

Required. Sensors in, motors out, one tuned behaviour — the robot the capstone runs on.

Take this Challenge →

3 milestones

  1. 1Read one sensor and log it
  2. 2Make it move under control
  3. 3Tune it and explain the build
SkillsOptional

Embedded Systems Design

Elective. Deeper hardware design for a sturdier robot.

Take this Challenge →

3 milestones

  1. 1Define the embedded system requirements and produce a hardware block diagram
  2. 2Implement and verify the embedded system on hardware or simulator
  3. 3Produce an embedded systems design report and present for technical review
Skills

Run Your Own ML Model On-Device

Required. Your own data, your own model, running live on the device — the capstone needs it.

Take this Challenge →

3 milestones

  1. 1Collect your own labelled data
  2. 2Train and test the model
  3. 3Run it live on the device
SkillsOptional

Embedded Firmware Implementation

Elective. Firmware skills for tighter timing and lower latency.

Take this Challenge →

3 milestones

  1. 1Set up the embedded development environment and implement a hardware abstraction layer
  2. 2Implement and test a complete firmware application using the HAL
  3. 3Produce a firmware design document and conduct a code review
Skills

Ship an Autonomous Robot Task

Required capstone. Combines the robot and the model into one autonomous task, demoed live.

Take this Challenge →

3 milestones

  1. 1Define the task and success test
  2. 2Build and run the trials
  3. 3Demo it live and defend it
