AWS Solutions Architect — Associate (SAA-C03) tests your ability to design resilient, cost-efficient, high-performance, and secure systems on AWS. Before studying, audit your current AWS experience against the exam's five solution design domains, identify where your practical gaps are, and build a study plan that prioritises architectural decision-making over service memorisation. The exam tests judgment, not trivia.
Proof required
Submit: (1) a self-assessment table mapping your current experience to the five SAA-C03 exam domains (Secure Architectures, Resilient Architectures, High-Performing Architectures, Cost-Optimised Architectures, Miscellaneous), (2) your planned exam date, and (3) a 8–12 week study schedule showing which services and scenario types you will cover each week.
What gets checked
- Self-assessment identifies specific services or scenarios where you have real hands-on experience versus those you have only read about — 'I know S3' and 'I have used S3 lifecycle policies in production to reduce storage costs' are very different experience levels
- Study plan focuses on scenario-based decision-making, not just service definitions — questions like 'when would you choose Aurora over RDS?' reveal the exam's actual challenge
- Planned exam date is 8–16 weeks away for a candidate with some AWS experience, or 14–20 weeks for a candidate starting from scratch
