Establish the content production system — the format, the publishing cadence, and the first 8 published pieces. A content engine is not an editorial calendar; it is a repeatable system that produces content at a consistent rate without requiring heroic effort every time. Before publishing anything, decide: (1) the format (long-form blog, newsletter, short video, podcast — pick one primary format and commit), (2) the cadence (weekly is the minimum viable cadence for content-led growth; less frequent is not an engine), (3) the target keyword or topic cluster (what are the exact questions your target customers are searching for?), and (4) the distribution channel (where will each piece be shared after publication?). The first 8 published pieces are the proof that the engine runs consistently, not just when inspiration strikes.

Proof required

Submit: (1) links to 8 published pieces with publication dates showing consistency over at least 6 consecutive weeks, and (2) a 100-word content strategy note explaining the format chosen, the publishing cadence, the target audience keyword/topic cluster, and the primary distribution channel.

What gets checked

  • 8 pieces published over at least 6 consecutive weeks — pieces all published in the same week or same month do not demonstrate a cadence; the publication dates must show at least 6 separate weeks with at least one piece per week or fortnight (depending on chosen cadence)
  • All pieces address the same audience and topic cluster — a mix of personal updates, industry observations, and product announcements is not a content engine; each piece must be about the same core topic area (the questions your target customers have) regardless of the specific angle
  • Content strategy note specifies the keyword or topic cluster — 'topics my customers care about' is not specific enough; 'the keyword cluster around migrating from spreadsheet-based HR to software tools for companies with 10–50 employees' is the level of specificity that makes an engine searchable and attributable
