Reach Spanish C1

52 weeks · 3 milestones

Express ideas fluently and spontaneously in Spanish. Unlike app-based learning, every milestone requires proof of real human communication — not a score on an app.

3 milestones

Spanish C1 comprehension requires processing Spanish spoken at full native speed across regional varieties — Peninsular, Mexican, Argentine, Chilean, Colombian, Andean, Caribbean — each with distinct phonology, lexical choices, and idioms. At C1, you can follow radio talk programmes, spontaneous debate, fast casual conversation, and Spanish-language films and documentaries without subtitles. This milestone builds and documents that comprehension range.

Proof required

Over 4 weeks, keep a daily log of Spanish-language media consumed: title, variety/accent, duration, comprehension percentage (estimated), and one specific linguistic feature you noticed (a regional expression, a rapid phonological reduction, an idiom). At the end of 4 weeks, write 300 words describing: your comprehension pattern across varieties (where you are strongest and weakest), one expression or phrase you first encountered in this period and have since used yourself, and one variety you still find harder than your primary Spanish variety — and why.

What gets checked

  • The 4-week log shows variety diversity — if all entries are from one Spanish-speaking country, the comprehension range being claimed as C1 hasn't been tested; C1 requires comprehension across at least three distinct regional varieties
  • The 'harder variety' observation is specific to phonological or lexical features — 'Chilean Spanish has more anglicisms and rapid vowel reduction' or 'Andean Spanish has pitch patterns influenced by Quechua that sound distinct to me' is C1 meta-linguistic awareness; 'I just find it harder' is not
  • The expression adopted into your own use is quoted in Spanish and described in context — this shows real acquisition from authentic media, which is the C1 comprehension standard
