Reach Spanish B2

32 weeks · 3 milestones

Interact fluently with native Spanish speakers and understand complex texts. Unlike app-based learning, every milestone requires proof of real human communication — not a score on an app.

3 milestones

Spanish B2 requires the subjunctive's full range including the imperfect subjunctive ('si tuviera dinero, viajaría...', 'ojalá pudiera...'), the use of the subjunctive in relative clauses ('busco alguien que hable...'), and the register shifts that characterize native Spanish speech — the difference between 'me parece bien' and 'me toca las narices', between Peninsular Spanish register and Latin American Spanish register. This milestone builds B2 through documented production.

Proof required

Record a 6-minute unscripted opinion or narrative in Spanish. Include: at least 2 imperfect subjunctive constructions (si hubiera/tuviera/pudiera..., ojalá tuviera..., quería que viniera...), at least 1 subjunctive in a relative clause ('busco algo que sea...', 'no hay nadie que pueda...'), and at least 3 idiomatic expressions a non-Spanish speaker would be unlikely to produce (not basic idioms but natural colloquial phrases). Write 150 words on which Spanish variety (Peninsular, Mexican, Argentine, Colombian, etc.) you've been most exposed to and how it affects your production.

What gets checked

  • The imperfect subjunctive forms are correctly conjugated — '-ra' forms (tuviera, pudiera, viviera) vs. '-se' forms; both are correct but learners who use imperfect subjunctive at all at B2 typically have a preferred form; errors in stem are diagnostic
  • The three idiomatic expressions are genuinely idiomatic and not common learner phrases — ask yourself: would a B1 learner who studied from a textbook know this expression? If yes, it may not demonstrate B2 idiomatic range
  • The Spanish variety account is specific: it names linguistic features associated with that variety (voseo in Argentina, ceceo in parts of Spain, chilenismos, etc.) that the submitter has absorbed through exposure
