• Practising exclusively on familiar routes or the route of the driving test — examiners deliberately vary the route, and exclusive familiarity with one road combination builds false confidence rather than the adaptive road reading that the test assesses
• Reconstructing the log from memory after the fact rather than keeping it session-by-session — logs written retrospectively lose the session-level detail (specific skills, road conditions, incidents) the quality bar requires

• Treating the licence as the end goal rather than a capability signal — a full driving licence indicates you are safe to drive on public roads; if you are not yet consistently safe, additional practice before booking is the appropriate response
